Information for Buyers:

How does your service work? Back to questions for buyers

The company provides advertising services to parties interested in selling their interest in the top level and country code domain names that they have registered. We publish them on DomainTrader which harnesses the power of the World Wide Web to market our advertiser’s domain names to a very wide audience. Prospective purchasers can contact the owner of any of the domain names they see advertised on the site by clicking on the domain name that interests them. Each domain is linked to the email address of the registered owner whom buyers can contact and negotiate with directly. For more information on what we do please see Our Services.

Is there any cost for me to use your services? Back to questions for buyers

No. Our service is free for you to use. The domain names advertised on this site are for sale. Simply, browse through our inventory of available domain names and when you see a name that interests you, email the owner and make them an offer.

Who owns the domain names listed on the site? Back to questions for buyers

The domain names listed on DomainTrader are owned by various individuals and corporations. The rightful owner(s) have authorized the advertisement of all of the domain names appearing for sale on this site.

Is buying and selling domain names Cyber-squatting? Back to questions for buyers

Not at all! Cyber-squatting is a practice whereby an individual purchases a domain name that corresponds to a federally registered trademark for the sole purpose of selling that domain back to the trademark holder for a profit; or with the intent to mislead and confuse the public into thinking that the purchaser is somehow related to, associated with, or otherwise affiliated with the trade mark holder; or finally, to interfere with the business dealings of the trademark holder. DomainTrader does not sanction, condone, or approve of this practice, and we do not participate in it. Instead, we focus our attention on the thousands of generic domain names out there which are not protected by trademark that could be very valuable to individuals who incorporate them into the establishment of an online identity.

Why do I need a domain name? Back to questions for buyers

Getting a domain name is the first step in establishing your business online. A good domain name is critical as it holds the key to identifying your products and services, and establishing your brand, and identity in the minds of the users on the World Wide Web. A distinctive web presence will allow you to access global markets for your goods and services and enable you to offer your current customers new and improved ways of doing business with your company.

I already have a domain name. Why would I want or need another one?
Back to questions for buyers

A good domain name will attract new customers to your business and getting new customers is important to every business. Internet marketing is all about increasing traffic to your web site. A domain name can do that. Do what the major corporations do; many of them own and employ 100s and even 1000s of domain names in marketing their ecommerce initiatives. Having multiple domain names pointing at one site, increasing link popularity, and getting increased representation in search engine results, are but a few of the many benefits available to businesses that employ multiple domain names in marketing their businesses online.

All the great domain names were taken long ago but more and more of the first generation domain names are becoming available again as attempted businesses fail, as owners move on to new projects, and as speculators look to sell some of the brand ready domains they had the foresight to register. Some of these domains actually have built in and residual traffic! Ask yourself, what is a new customer worth to my business?

How can I see what domains are for sale? And how would I buy one?
Back to questions for buyers

Some domain names are posted in the scrolling Marquee located on our homepage. Click on the Showcase button or on any of the 15 available categories to view all of the domain names currently being offered on the site. Be sure to look through all of the categories as they may contain names which will not be found on any other page of the site. When you come across a domain name you like, email the owner and make them an offer. All negotiations take place between the buyer and the seller. There is no charge for you to browse the domain names. Escrow Services are available upon request.

Who pays the registrar transfer and registration fees? Back to questions for buyers

All aspects relating to the sale, transfer and registration of domain names are negotiated exclusively between the buyer and the seller. DomainTrader does not get involved.

How will the name be transferred after I purchase it? Back to questions for buyers

Do you offer Escrow Services for buyers? Back to questions for buyers

What is an Escrow Service? Back to questions for sellers

Escrow Service providers act as objective and independent third parties in transactions to protect the rights and interests of buyers and sellers involved in a sale. They facilitate the movement of property from the seller to the buyer; and the movement of consideration from the buyer to the seller. Escrow providers look after all of the intricacies and legalities involved in a sale. Use of this service minimizes the risk of the parties involved in a transaction and provides them with an added sense of security in knowing that the transfer of property and money will be handled professionally.

Do I have to use your Escrow Service? Back to questions for sellers

No you do not; using our Escrow Service is optional! We do recommend however that in large dollar transactions both parties take measures to ensure that both their legal rights and money are protected.

Who can use your Escrow Service? Back to questions for sellers
